Jugalbandi is an artificial intelligence chatbot developed in India. It is an open platform for free and a combination of chatGPT and indian language translation models. Microsoft launched it, which will work through WhatsApp. It will help people especially those living in rural India to know about and access government services.
Why is it necessary ?
The government provides various financial assistance and services to the rural people of India. All information on these services is in English. Rural people may not be aware of all the services due to a lack of knowledge of the English language. The jugalbandi is a chatbot that informs customers about services in their language.
The rate of diffusion of this next generation of AI is unlike anything we've seen, but even more remarkable is the sense of empowerment it has already unlocked in every corner of the world, including rural India. pic.twitter.com/zLa7ZyevAL

How does it work?
Jugalbandi in Hindi means two great musicians of Indian classical music performing together. The AI-driven multilingual chatbot was developed by AI4Bharat in collaboration with IIT Madras. Microsoft says the chatbot's job is to deliver answers to customers' queries in their language.
WhatsApp is widely used in India. So this chatbot will work through WhatsApp. The chatbot will start working when the customer sends a query via text or audio message. The message will be converted to text using the AI4Bharat speech recognition model. ThenThe text was translated into English by the Bhasini translation model trained by AI4India.
The government launched Bhasani in July 2022 so that people can access the internet and digital services in their language through this technology. AI will retrieve data from government services based on a prompt. The answer is translated into the customer's language.
Then It will be converted into an audio message with the help of the AI4Bharat text-to-speech model and returned to the customer.
Conclusion
This chatbot is currently under construction. It now understands and can provide answers to 10 of India's 22 official languages. India has countless government schemes and welfare programs. Its number is approximately 15000+, out of which 171 services currently cover this chatbot. Very soon this chatbot will reach its full potential and will deliver the information to the rural people that they need.
